Franklin's Kennard invited to USA Basketball camp

Franklin High School’s Luke Kennard has committed to play basketball at Duke.

Franklin junior shooting guard Luke Kennard has accepted an invitation to the USA Basketball Under-18 National Team training camp June 10-19 in Colorado Springs, Colo., USA Basketball said.

Kennard, who announced his verbal commitment to Duke on March 24, is one of 18 players invited to the camp.

The U18 National Team will select 12 players for the team that will compete in the FIBA Americas U18 Championship June 20-24 in Colorado Springs.

University of Florida coach Billy Donovan will coach the squad for a third consecutive summer. Providence coach Ed Cooley and Arizona coach Sean Miller are also on the staff.

Kennard was Associated Press Ohio Mr. Basketball and the Gatorade Ohio player of the year this past season.

Softball

CCD 11, Winton Woods 1: Missy Dieckman-Meyer threw a complete game and also launched a fourth inning home run to help CCD earn its first win. Dieckman-Meyer struck out 11 while surrendering only one hit. Olivia Robinson chipped in with three hits and two RBI.

Seton 2, Mercy 1: Senior pitcher Chelsea Zang had 14 strikeouts while also going 3-for-3 with a double and a RBI to lead Seton.

Mercy was led by senior Hannah Siefert, who went 2-for-3.

Reading 23, Mariemont 3: Lexi Leach and Jordan Harvey combined to collect six hits and drive in eight runs to help Reading move to 1-1.

Leach finished 4-for-5 with five RBI, and Harvey was 2-for-2 with a double, triple and three RBI.

Harrison 7, Little Miami 2: Erin Engstrom threw a complete game and struck out five to help Harrison move to 2-1. Engstrom also went 4-for-4 at the plate and drove in four runs.

Mason 11, Sycamore 1 (six innings): Mason, No. 1 in The Enquirer Division I area coaches' poll, was led by senior pitcher Tory Stewart, who also went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Senior left fielder Hannah Mizener had a home run, junior center fielder Hailey Ellis went 2-for-4 with three RBI, junior shortstop Gabby LaSala went 3-for-4 with two RBI and junior right fielder Jordan Sullivan had two hits.

Lakota West 10, Oak Hills 1: Lakota West, No. 2 in The Enquirer poll, got plenty of offensive production as senior first baseman Ashley Sharp, senior shortstop Kat Burbrink and junior Marisa Brown all hit home runs. Junior pitcher Maddie Kurtz had 10 strikeouts for the Firebirds.

Milford 5, Turpin 4: Milford, No. 8 in The Enquirer Division I area coaches' poll, was down 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning when junior first baseman Shelby Kirk hit a two-out double to drive in the winning runs. Senior shortstop Kayla Gregory (Bowling Green signee) went 2-for-4, while freshman Hannah Meenach had a double and a triple and freshman Kelsey Seitz went 2-for-2. Sophomore pitcher Hannah Huffer had 12 strikeouts and improved to 4-0.

Boys' Tennis

Mason "Green" 5, Fairfield 0: Mason, No. 1 in The Enquirer Division I coaches' poll, improved to 2-0.
