Steve Harvey flies in Cracker Barrel couple for NKY opening

COLD SPRING – An Indiana couple who've eaten at all 645 Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores will make room for one more meal when they visit Northern Kentucky Friday.

Steve Harvey, the busiest man on television, handed Ray and Wilma Yoder airplane tickets on his Oct. 6 talk show so they can be in Cold Spring Oct. 27 for an invitation-only preview breakfast for the national chain's newest restaurant.

Harvey asked the couple during his show to say hello to Cracker Barrel for him when they visit Cold Spring.

The Goshen, Indiana, couple visited their final Cracker Barrel – among restaurants already open – in August prior to Cold Spring's Oct. 30 opening date.

Ray and Wilma Yoder finished their 40-year quest to visit every Cracker Barrel in August with a stop in Oregon.

In Cold Spring, the 10,000-square-foot restaurant will bring 170 new jobs and seat up to 180 people.

Demolition crews cleared the way for Cracker Barrel in Cold Spring in January. The former nightclub Guys 'n' Dolls was the last of a string of bars and restaurants to occupy the now-demolished building over a span of 100 years.

Cracker Barrel has 36 other Kentucky restaurants including one at 7399 Turfway Road, Florence.

Construction workers finish concrete at the entrance to a new Cracker Barrel Old Country Store restaurant at 4210 U.S. 27, Cold Spring.

Cold Spring Mayor Angelo Penque will participate in a 7:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Cracker Barrel before the 8 a.m. Oct. 27 preview breakfast.

Penque has a present for Ray and Wilma Yoder on behalf of the city.

"I just had a key to the city on a plaque made for them," Penque said.
