The Cincinnati Bengals acquired Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Chris Smith for a conditional 2018 draft choice.

The Cincinnati Bengals added to their defensive line room by making a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday, acquiring fourth-year defensive end Chris Smith for a conditional draft choice in 2018. The Enquirer confirmed the draft choice would be in the seventh round.

The 6-foot, 1-inch, 266-pound defensive end played in 19 games over three years with the Jaguars and recorded 4.5 sacks. His first takedown of a quarterback was a half-sack of Andy Dalton on Nov. 2, 2014.

Predicting Bengals' first three draft picks

Smith, 25, hasn't seen much action since the Jaguars drafted him out of Arkansas in the fifth-round in 2014. He played a career-high 153 snaps in 2015 but has seen the field for just 311 plays over his career.

The Bengals liked Smith's speed coming out of college and adds competition to a defensive line group that lost Margus Hunt and Domata Peko to free agency.

Wallace Gilberry was retained as a free agent, and injured draft picks Marcus Hardison and Andrew Billings are healthy and expected to compete for playing time.
