The state auditor is “alarmed” after two local school districts hired a substitute who was not certified.

Dave Yost, Auditor of State

Demarco Kinamore worked as a substitute aide for Winton Woods and Fairfield city schools, a position that requires a state certification that Kinamore didn’t have. From 2012 through 2015, Kimanore collected $19,003 from Winton Woods and $5,624 from Fairfield, according to a news release from Ohio Auditor Dave Yost.

Kinamore also coached freshman basketball at Winton Woods, a job that requires a separate permit he did not have. He was paid $3,942 for that job.

License requirements “ensure students are in capable hands,” Yost said in the release. “I find it alarming that neither school district realized this individual wasn’t qualified to work in a classroom.”

Yost issued a cumulative $28,569 finding against Kinamore. If he does not repay the money, the schools are liable.
