Congressman Steve Chabot has taken to his blog to again call out fellow Republican Donald Trump, this time over the president's attack on the media.

In an open letter to Trump posted Wednesday, Westwood's Chabot wrote: "I’m a supporter, but I believe it is my responsibility to voice my disagreement with you, when what you’ve said or done, crosses a line. And I believe you did cross that line recently when you said that the news media is the enemy of the American people."

Trump specifically called the New York Times, CNN, ABC, CBS and NBC "fake news" and the "enemy" of Americans in a Twitter post last Friday.

"Now is what you said an impeachable offense, as at least one former judge in my community might have us believe? No," Chabot continued, referencing an Enquirer op-ed by Downtown resident Mark Painter. "The same First Amendment that protects the press, and all of us for that matter, protects you as well. But you are the President of the United States. People listen closely to everything you say."

Chabot concluded his blog post by saying: "The Democrats, the media and those who don’t see things the way we do, may be the opposition, but they’re not the enemy."

Chabot has blogged three open letters to Trump. Last month, Chabot wrote that the president should use his inaugural address to apologize to people Trump disparaged during the campaign, including Mexican immigrants and Muslims. Trump did not take Chabot's advice.
