IPM making holidays brighter for families

Inter Parish Ministry continues its annual tradition of giving Santa a helping hand through its Toy Store.

Thanks to IPM contributors and volunteers, 56 working poor parents from Clermont County and eastern Hamilton County were able to buy brand new Christmas gifts for their children at a fraction of the retail cost.

The annual event, Dec. 3 at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Anderson Township, offered toys priced from $1 to $3. The toys were acquired by IPM through donations and toy drives at community businesses, including Gardner Media Services, General Data, Ready Line, Coors Core Fitness and TQL.

“This year’s Toy Store was the best one yet,” IPM program coordinator Sarah Cadle said. “Due to an overwhelming response by the community and local businesses, our tables were well-stocked and the families we helped left with the joy of knowing their children will have a wonderful Christmas.

“It eases a lot of emotional stress on these parents as they unfortunately deal with issues that range from transportation to illness to making choices due to lack of money.”

Inter Parish Ministry is a 52-year-old non-profit organization that provides food, clothing and communal support programs to local residents in need. IPM is based in Newtown and also has service centers in Amelia and Batavia.
