The cast of "Inconceivable" talks to the media about the Cincinnati-based film at the Village Tavern in Montgomery on Tuesday.

The filming of the Cincinnati-based film “Inconceivable” began this week. At a press meet-and-greet, the film's producer and cast talked about the lack of great roles for women, the dearth of great drama in films today and how much they love the Queen City.

“Inconceivable,” an Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films production, is the story of a woman’s desire to have a baby, which brings tragic consequences when she befriends an unstable stranger, according to a press release.

Actor Nicolas Cage said the main reason he wanted to participate in the movie is because “it’s no secret that there is a certain lack of great roles for females – for ladies – in Hollywood.”

He read the script and was immediately aware of the two, fantastic, female-lead roles, that he thought were well-written, dramatic and a lot of fun to play.

“I’m supporting these two great actresses – Nicky Whelan and Gina Gershon,” Cage said. "I know both of them. I’ve worked with both of them before. It was just a real opportunity for me to be able to do that, and support great talent.”

“This movie is going to really ignite the female audience,” director Jonathan Baker said. “There are few movies for women, and this movie is one of them.”

He said the film landscape is missing great dramas.

“They are not out there,” he said. “This is counter-programming for [superhero] movies. “So when everyone doesn’t want to go to those movies, this is where they’re going to come.”

Actress Natalie Eva Marie, who is also a WWE superstar, said her favorite part, from a female perspective, is that there are no damsel in distress characters.

Each character “is extremely powerful and empowering,” she said. “I feel like that brings another element to Hollywood that you don’t see in a female thriller as much."

“Inconceivable" is ”Emmett/Furla’s third film in Greater Cincinnati and fifth film in Ohio.

“We love it here,” producer Randall Emmett said. “The community has embraced us. Obviously, the incentives play a major part in us coming here... There’s a lot of warmth and excitement when we come here.”

Baker said he likes being in Cincinnati because “the flavor of this city” makes it one of the best places to film in the entire country.

“For me, it’s a cinematic masterpiece,” Baker said. “I’ve seen many states with many incentives. When I saw this city and how it’s been built, and where we are… Through the lens, it was amazing.”
