FRANKFORT – Rep. Addia Wuchner, R-Florence, was recently appointed to the Women In Government’s National Task Force on Mental Health and Substance Use.

The task force is made up of women legislators across the United States who have been leaders on issues pertaining to mental health and substance abuse policies.

“It is an honor to join such passionate and determined women as we work to improve our states’ policies,” Wuchner said.

She also serves as vice-chair of the Kentucky House Health and Welfare Committee.

Mental health disorders and substance abuse rank among the costliest medical conditions for states to manage. The National Task Force is charged with developing a tool box of policy and legislative proposals that can be utilized in legislatures across the nation as they strive to address mental health and substance misuse and abuse.

“Mental health and substance abuse have been issues my tenure in Frankfort has been centered around, and I am hopeful that this task force will not only allow me to share Kentucky’s success stories with combating these issues, but also provide the chance for me to bring home other policy stories of success that can become positive changes for the commonwealth,” Wuchner said.
