Boone County Schools: No threat to high school after social posts

Boone County School District took to Facebook on Tuesday to reassure parents that students were safe at the district's namesake high school.

A picture of a Snapchat circled in a number of local Facebook groups alleging that a student at Boone County High School was going to bring a rifle to school.

"Rumors are spreading through social media about an unfounded threat at Boone County High School," the post said. "An investigation found the threat is not credible."

"As a precaution, extra security is at Boone County High School to ensure your child is safe. The person making the threat has been identified and is being dealt with," the post said.
