Wrestlers of the year

Tanner Yenter, junior, Campbell County: 

Campbell County's Tanner Yenter, background, won at 113 pounds.

Won his first state championship at 113 pounds after winning the regional title.

Finished 46-5 for the season.

Casey Cornett, junior, Simon Kenton: Won the state championship at 170 pounds and was regional champion as well.

Ranked in the top 100 in the nation in his grade, Cornett was 64-2 this season, the most wins in Northern Kentucky.

Coach of the year

John Roth, Walton-Verona: Led the Bearcats to the school’s first-ever appearance at the state duals tournament, where

the team finished in third place.

First team

106–Blake Roth, Walton-Verona: Sophomore as the regional champion and finished seventh at state. He was 43-11 for the season.

113–Tanner Yenter, Campbell County: Co-wrestler of the year.

120–Ryan Moore, Walton-Verona: Sophomore was the regional champion and finished fifth at state with a 49-5 record.

126–Dante Castellano, Simon Kenton: The junior was regional champion and third place at state with a 62-4 record.

132–Jordan Monroe, Cooper: Senior was the regional champion – Cooper’s second one ever – and fourth place at state with a 49-4 record.

138–Bryan Spahr, Campbell County: The senior was regional champion and named most outstanding wrestler of the Region 6 meet to lead the Camels to the team championship. He was 34-9 for the season.

145–Mason Smith, Walton-Verona: Sophomore was regional champion and third place at state with a 44-4 record.

152–Tristin Badida, Conner: Senior was regional champion and finished fourth at state with a 49-5 record.

160–Matthew Munoz, Dixie Heights: The senior was regional champion and finished fourth at state with a 45-6 record.

170–Casey Cornett, Simon Kenton: Co-wrestler of the year.

182–Roy Bowers, Dixie Heights: Junior was regional champion and finished with a 35-13 record, winning two matches at state.

195–Brett Graziani, Campbell County: Senior was regional champion and third at state with a 44-12 record.

220–Kairus Washington, Dixie Heights: Sophomore was regional champion and seventh at state with a 40-11 record.

285–Ahmad Hameidan , Boone County: Senior was regional champion and seventh at state with a 39-7 record.

Second team

106–Thomas Ketchen-Carter, Campbell County: Seventh-grader was regional runner-up and fifth at state with a 25-7 record.

113–Shay Norton, Ryle: The freshman was regional runner-up and 22-18 overall, winning three matches at state.

120–Brady Wells, Campbell County: The junior was regional runner-up and third place at state with a 49-8 record.

126–Dakota Lillie, Campbell County; and Jake Peace, Walton-Verona: Lillie, a senior, was regional runner-up and 32-16 overall. Peace, a senior, was third in the region and fourth in the state with a 39-15 record.

132–Cody Schultz, Scott: Senior was regional runner-up and eighth at state with a 31-14 record.

138–Logan Erdman, Ryle: Senior was regional runner-up and third at state with a 42-4 record.

145–Cody Huston, Cooper: Junior was regional runner-up and state runner-up with a 46-4 record, becoming the first Jaguar to compete in a state final.

152–Kyrie Glover, Holmes; and Jordan Kidwell, Cooper: Glover, a senior, was regional runner-up and 29-5 overall, winning two matches at state. Kidwell, a senior, was third in the region and seventh in the state with a 41-5 record.

160–Cody Roland, Scott: Junior was regional runner-up and 32-11 overall, winning three matches at state.

170–Seth Hille, Holmes: Junior was regional runner-up and 37-9 overall, winning three matches at state.

182–Daylan Bailey, Cooper: Sophomore was regional runner-up and 36-17 overall, winning one match at state.

195–Alex Olvera-Vancini, Holmes: Senior was regional runner-up and fifth at state, going 18-5 overall.

220–Josh Van Strien, Conner: Senior was regional runner-up and 28-12 overall, winning one match at state.

285–Hunter Ruber, Walton-Verona: Junior was regional runner-up and fourth at state, going 32-9 overall.

Alexandria Recorder

Tanner Yenter, junior, Campbell County – He won the state championship at 113 pounds, his first state title. He also won the regional title, helping the Camels to their fifth straight regional team championship. He was 46-5 overall.

Boone County/Boone Community/Florence/Union Recorder

Cody Huston, Cooper – He became the first Jaguar to reach a state final, at 145, finishing 46-4 overall. He was regional runner-up.

Mason Smith, Walton-Verona – He was regional champion at 145, one of three champs for the Bearcats during their team runner-up finish. Smith finished in third place at state and 44-4 for the season.

Tristin Badida, senior,Conner – One of the area’s most decorated wrestlers was regional champion at 152 and finished fourth at state with a 49-5 overall record.

Logan Erdman, senior, Ryle – He was regional runner-up at 138 and third place at state after an opening-round loss, going 42-4 overall.

Ahmad Hameidan, senior, Boone County – He became Boone’s second regional champ in the modern era, winning at 285, and was 39-7.

Campbell County/Campbell Community Recorder

Tanner Yenter, junior, Campbell County – He won the state championship at 113 pounds, his first state title. He also won the regional title, helping the Camels to their fifth straight regional team championship. He was 46-5 overall.

Community Recorder

Matthew Munoz, senior, Dixie Heights – One of the Colonels’ three regional champions. He won the title at 160 and finished 45-6 for the year, then finished fourth at state. The senior finished with 100 career wins.

South Kenton Recorder

Casey Cornett, junior, Simon Kenton – He dominated competition in the state, winning his first state championship at 170 and finishing 64-2 for the year. He is ranked top 100 nationally in his grade.
