Police are searching for a male suspect in an armed robbery at the Union Savings Bank in Deer Park that occurred just before 11 a.m. Monday.

The man  held up the bank with a silver handgun and stuffed an undetermined amount of cash into a backpack before fleeing on foot, police said. He was last seen headed east on Linden Avenue from the bank.

Administration at Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School was notified of the robbery and as a safety precaution, moved the school to an exterior lock down, according to the school's public information office. No one was permitted in or out of the building during the lock down, but classes continued as normal. The lock down lasted about 25 minutes.
