Weekend ballpark forecast: Rain on the way

Bring your rain gear to Great American Ball Park this weekend because wet weather is forecast to dampen the scheduled celebration of the 1990 wire-to-wire champions, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Saturday - Reds (8-9) versus Chicago Cubs (8-8), 1:10 p.m.

Probable pitching: RHPAnthony DeSclafani (2-0, 0.86 ERA) versus RHP Mike Arrieta (2-1, 1.74 ERA)

Saturday figures to feature an early-arriving crowd to the ballpark as many will hope to claim one of 25,000 available "Nasty Boys" bobblehead figurines featuring Randy Myers, Rob Dibble and Norm Charlton of the 1990 Reds.

You'll want to dress in layers if you plan to grab a place in the line early as rain is expected to begin around 9 a.m. and last through the first pitch of the game.

Storms are possible starting around 1 p.m.

The chance of rain won't drop below 90 percent throughout the game, according to the weather service. The high temperature is only forecast to reach about 54 degrees.

The probability for a weather delays seems likely here.

Sunday - Reds versus Cubs, 1:10 p.m.

Probable pitching: RHP Jason Marquis (1-1, 7.20 ERA) versus LHP Travis Wood (1-1, 3.24 ERA)

The outlook is a bit brighter on Sunday as very little rain is forecast after 7 p.m., the weather service said. The forecast high temperature is 60 degrees.

Don't expect to see much sun, however, as cloudy skies are forecast, the weather service said.
