A man was shot in the back after two cars collided Wednesday night. The shooter in the incident remains at-large, authorities said.

Two cars collided near the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive at about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday. In response to the crash, one of the motorists involved shot the other driver, according to authorities.

The shooting victim was transported just a few hundred feet up the street to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center but his status is "still to be determined," an official said.

The suspect remains at-large. Police are still in the process of identifying suspects and are searching, an authority said.

The intersection where the crash occurred was briefly closed.
