Reds rookies dress up for their trip from Milwaukee to Chicago following Sunday's game against the Brewers.

One of the greatest — and strangest — traditions in baseball is the rookie dress-up day.

Near the end of the season every year, veterans take the clothes from the lockers of the rookies and in their place, leave some sort of costume — and rarely one anyone would pick out for themselves.

The Reds had the added bonus of making their rookies ride a bus in costume from Milwaukee to Chicago after Sunday's game against the Brewers.

In Chicago, the rookies will get off the bus at their hotel in front of fans who will gather for autographs.

While reporters aren't permitted to take still photographs in the clubhouse, the players themselves did a nice enough job taking pictures in Milwaukee of the rookies and sharing them on social media. Here's a sampling of some of the Reds' rookies in their costumes via Todd Frazier:

In that picture, from the left is Pedro Villarreal, Donald Lutz, Tucker Barnhart, Ryan Dennick, Billy Hamilton, Yorman Rodriguez, Kristopher Negron, Daniel Corcino, David Holmberg, Jake Elmore, Carlos Contreras, strength and conditioning coach Sean Marohn and Jumbo Diaz.

Negron tweeted out this photo, which he said is from downtown Chicago:
