Know Theatre is filling an open slot in January-February with an adaptation of Margaret Atwood's dystopian classic, "The Handmaid's Tale."

The play, adapted by Cincinnati native Joe Stollenwerk, will run Jan. 23-Feb. 21.

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company producing artistic director Brian Isaac Phillips will direct. Corinne Mohlenhoff stars as Offred, who has forced to become a Handmaid to fuel population growth in a repressive regime, the Republic of Gilead.

Stollenwerk's script originally was workshopped at Cincinnati Shakespeare with in 2009, and produced there as a "dark night production" in 2011.

Know artistic designer Andrew Hungerford designed the lighting for that production. Hungerford has shown a commitment to doing second productions of new plays. He has called his first season Adaptation Season.
