Ursuline's Stiene throws 15 strikeouts

Ursuline senior pitcher Danielle Stiene threw a no-hitter with 15 strikeouts to lead Ursuline in an 8-0 win over Mercy Thursday.

The win improves Stiene's record to 10-0. Stiene, who has had double-digit strikeouts in all 10 outings this season, was 2-for-4 with a RBI. She also threw a perfect game against Mercy in a 7-0 win earlier this season.

The Lions, ranked No. 6 in The Enquirer Division I area coaches' poll, scored six runs in the fourth inning, capped by senior second baseman Kaitlin Barbiere's three-run home run.

Sycamore 7, Colerain 6 (eight innings): Sycamore evened its record at 9-9 thanks to a walk-off win.

Sycamore's Becca Plaatje led off the bottom of the eighth inning with a walk and scored the game-winning run on a double in the gap from senior Kathryn Eberhart.

Colerain led off the top of the eighth inning with a triple, but Sycamore pitcher Lydia Sloan worked out of the inning and left that runner stranded at third.

Goshen 9, Amelia 4: Senior first baseman Rian Adams went 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead the Warriors. Sophomore Annie Gadberry and freshman Kelsie Hyden each went 2-for-4, helping Goshen improve to 6-6.

Little Miami 5, Northwest 0: Senior pitcher Molli Owens struck out four batters to record her first shutout, while also going 2-for-4 with a RBI. Senior Bre Hageman was 2-for-3 with a RBI, as Little Miami improved to 13-4.

Milford 8, Anderson 5: Sophomore pitcher Alexis Foster struck out eight batters. Freshman Valerie Thompson went 3-for-3 with three RBI, as Milford improved to 14-3.

Baseball

Batavia 12, Georgetown 0 (five innings): Batavia senior pitcher Devon Edwards earned his first win of the season with a no-hitter. Batavia (10-4) was led by seniors Austin Sammons and Kyle Grant. Sammons was 3-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBI. Grant finished 5-for-5 with a double and three RBI.

New Richmond 9, Taylor 0: New Richmond improved to 18-4 overall. The Lions were led by senior catcher Levi Simpson, who was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI.

Colerain 14, Winton Woods 0 (five innings): Colerain junior pitcher Stefan Athon threw his first career no-hitter with five strikeouts.

Mason 16, Princeton 0 (five innings): Mason improved to 13-4 overall and 10-4 in the Greater Miami Conference behind senior shortstop Connor Bryan's first home run of the season and four RBI.

Lakota East 6, Middletown 3: Juniors Adam McDonough and Mitch Bodden each went 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead the Thunderhawks, who improve to 14-9.

Western Brown 7, Norwood 2 (eight innings): Senior Corey Spitznagel was 2-for-2, while fellow senior Devyn Wood was 2-for-4 with a double, to lead Western Brown to the extra-innings win.

Cincinnati Country Day 13, St. Bernard 1: Junior pitcher Cameron Alldred had 10 strikeouts while also going 2-for-3 for CCD.
