Lakota West’s Asafo-Adjei gets Gators’ offer

The University of Florida offered Lakota West junior offensive lineman George Asafo-Adjei on Wednesday, according to Lakota West coach Larry Cox.

Gators coach Will Muschamp offered Asafo-Adjei over the phone, Cox said.

Asafo-Adjei, who is 6 feet 4 1/2 and 305 pounds, also has had offers from UC, Minnesota, West Virginia, Illinois, Kentucky, Toledo, Akron, Syracuse, Louisville and others during the recruiting process.

ScoutingOhio.com director Mark Porter said his potential is undeniable.

“(He) has the size and thickness that makes a great offensive lineman,” Porter said. “He can be a road grader at the point of attack because of the massive push he can generate. He can also ‘anchor’ in pass protection and keep the quarterback clean in the pocket.”

Marshall offered Moeller junior wide receiver Chase Pankey on Wednesday, according to Moeller coach John Rodenberg. Pankey, who is 6 feet and 175 pounds, was second-team All-GCL South and had 30 receptions for 551 yards and nine touchdowns last season. He also has offers from Ball State and Boston College.

Elder sophomore offensive lineman Tommy Kraemer added offers from Duke and Penn State, according to Elder coach Doug Ramsey. Kraemer, who is 6 feet 5 and 305 pounds, also has offers that include UC, Ohio State, Illinois and Kentucky.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL: Roger Bacon senior center Fred Moore accepted a scholarship to attend Shawnee State University, according to Roger Bacon coach Brian Neal. Moore, who is 6-7, was an Enquirer Divisions II-IV all-area selection this past season. He averaged 10.3 points and 6.7 rebounds. He helped the Spartans to the Division III state semifinals. He was first-team All-GCL Central.

Oak Hills 6-foot-10 center Andrew Chisholm signed with Lindsey Wilson College on Tuesday, according to Oak Hills coach Mike Price. He played in six games this past season for the Highlanders.

Yale offered Walnut Hills junior combo guard MaCio Teague on Wednesday night, according to Walnut Hills coach Ricardo Hill. Teague, an Enquirer Division I all-area selection this past season, also has offers from Akron, Alcorn State and Seton Hall.

Teague averaged 22.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.8 steals this past season.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL: Walnut Hills junior guard Taylor Darks verbally committed to play basketball and run track at Furman, according to Walnut Hills girls’ basketball coach Keith Gwynn. Darks, a 5-foot-9 guard, was an Enquirer Division I all-area selection this past season. She averaged 17.2 points and 8.9 rebounds. She was on the District 16 Coaches’ first team.

Princeton senior guard Quierra Drake committed to play at Lindenwood University, according to former Princeton coach Jill Phillips.

GIRLS’ GOLF: Winton Woods senior ZeAjiah Mooney has committed to the Brevard College women’s golf program in Brevard, North Carolina, according to Winton Woods athletic director Dwight Campbell.

She is scheduled to have a signing ceremony at 11:45 a.m. Friday.
