Leonard leads Colerain to upset of No. 10 Lebanon

Colerain poured on the offense to upset Lebanon, No. 10 in the final Enquirer Division I baseball coaches' poll, 11-6 in a Division I sectional tournament game Thursday.

Senior pitcher Tyler Leonard got the win while also going 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI to lead the way for the Cardinals.

Junior center fielder Jake Murray went 2-for-4 with three RBI, while junior shortstop Genesis Hillard went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Sophomore catcher Cory Heffron, freshman right fielder Kyle Bolden and sophomore Joe Goedde each had two hits for Colerain.

The Cardinals are set to play Milford on Thursday at Milford at 5 p.m.

Oak Hills 5, Northwest 4, Division I sectional: Oak Hills, No. 9 in The Enquirer Division I coaches' poll, scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the game.

Junior designated hitter Nick Brems went 2-for-4 with two RBI, while senior shortstop Ben Laumann went 3-for-4 with a triple to lead the Highlanders' offense.

Junior pitcher Jonathan Diefel came in and pitched one inning of relief to get the win.

Oak Hills is set to play the winner of Glen Este/Little Miami on Thursday.

Western Hills 5, Princeton 1,Division I sectional: Western Hills advances to face Anderson at Anderson Thursday at 5 p.m. after defeating Princeton Tuesday night. Senior starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez hit a fifth inning two-run double as his record improved to 5-2.

Lakota East 7, Middletown 1, Division I sectional: Senior starting pitcher Kyle Lepper struck out eight Middletown batters en route to his sixth win this season.

Lepper helped his pitching effort at the plate by hitting a triple and knocking in three runs.

Junior catcher Hayden Senger finished 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Hamilton 6, Edgewood 0,Division I sectional: Senior pitcher Jacob Zeek pitched a complete-game shutout.

Hamilton senior third baseman John Heckman went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, junior left fielder Jacob Stewart went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and junior designated hitter Dallas Robinson went 2-for-3 with a double.

Hamilton is set to play Elder on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Elder.

Milford 7, Sycamore 1, Division I sectional: Sophomore starting pitcher Kyle Ruehlman went 6 1/3 innings to improve to 6-0 this season.

Junior outfielder John Malott went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI and senior first baseman Ty Helton finished 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Goshen 7, Talawanda 1, Division II sectional: Sophomore pitcher Isaac Hart pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts while also going 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead Goshen.

Senior outfielder Jordan Hunter and sophomore catcher Noah Billingsley each had an RBI for the Warriors. Goshen is set to play Batavia on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Batavia.

Norwood 5, Indian Hill 0, Division II sectional: Junior pitcher Peyton Williams threw a complete-game two-hitter with six strikeouts to lead the way for Norwood.

Senior third baseman Mitch Wilson had a double and two RBI to lead the Indians' offense. Norwood is set to play New Richmond on Thursday at 5 p.m. at New Richmond.

North Adams 7, Whiteoak 2,Division IV sectional final: Senior left-handed pitcher Hank Sparks struck out nine batters as North Adams won its first sectional championship since 2003. Senior first baseman Haden Anderson went 2-for-4 with a double, while senior second baseman Blake Bradley went 2-for-3 to lead the North Adams offense.

Softball

Goshen 4, Clermont Northeastern 1, Division II sectional: With a 1-0 lead in the top of the seventh, Goshen's Kelsey Hyden hit a three-run home run to put Goshen up comfortably. The freshman designated-hitter finished 3-for-3 with a home run.
