St. Henry High School may not have a football team, but several girls at the school will be hitting the gridiron this Sunday to raise money for a staff member at the school who is recovering from a heart attack.

The SHDHS Powder Puff Football Tournament will be played at the school's soccer field with underclassmen facing upperclassmen in games at 2 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. and the championship scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

The event is a National Honor Society Leadership Project led by juniors Carlie Roark and Anna Rowland. Admission for the games will be $3 for students and $5 for adults. There will also be concessions and raffles for Newport Aquarium tickets and Reds tickets. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be used to help assist maintenance worker Tom Hundley with medical bills and the rest will go to the school's athletic boosters.

Because of the heavy rain this week there is also the possibility of the event being postponed and moved to either April 12 or 13.

9TH REGION ALL 'A' SCHEDULE UPDATE: Despite the heavy rain that swept through the area over the last three days, Newport Central Catholic baseball coach Jeff Schulkens said he is hopeful that quarterfinal round games in the Ninth Region All 'A' Classic will be played either today or even Sunday, which allow the semifinals and final to be held as scheduled this Monday and Tuesday respectively at the Florence Freedom's UC Health Care Stadium.

The quarterfinal round, which is being played at home sites, was scheduled for Thursday, but all games were postponed due to the weather.

TIME CHANGES FOR NDA EVENT: In order to have more time to work on the muddy softball field at Notre Dame Academy, the school's softball coach Joe Stephenson said game times for today's three-team round-robin tournament - called Strikeout Cancer: Kids Playing for Kids – have been changed.

Notre Dame will now face Dixie Heights at Noon, followed by Dixie playing St. Henry at 2 p.m. and then St. Henry meeting Notre Dame at 4 p.m.

There is also the possibility of the event being postponed and played on Sunday (check @nkyskinner on Twitter for updates).

The event is being held in conjunction with the Dragonfly Foundation, which provides comfort and joy to kids and young adults enduring cancer and bone marrow transplants.

There will also be raffles and food at the event.
