The Lebanon girls' softball team, the No. 1 ranked team in the Cincinnati Enquirer's Division I coaches' poll, hosted Elyria and North Canton Hoover on Saturday, April 12 – two highly touted teams from Northern Ohio.

In the second game, Lebanon (8-0) defeated North Canton Hoover 3-1. The win snapped a 51-game Hoover winning streaking that spanned more than three seasons. Hoover is also the winner of the previous three Division I State Championships.

"North Canton Hoover is an outstanding team," said Lebanon head coach Brian Kindell. "We played very well, but at the end of the day it's just a regular season win."

Senior first baseman Savannah Scott broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning with a RBI single, scoring senior outfielder Sam Showalter who lead off the inning with a double.

Hoover scored in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game until junior outfielder Kim Frank hit a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth for the go-ahead score.

Junior pitcher Tara Trainer threw a complete game and struck out 12 Hoover batters.

Lebanon defeated Elyria in the first game 5-2.
