BOYS' BASKETBALL: Turpin has hired Ryan Krohn to be the new varsity boys' basketball coach, according to athletic director Eric Fry.

Krohn was most recently a varsity assistant at CHCA, a position he held since 2011. Prior to that, Krohn was a varsity assistant at Lebanon. He served as a men's assistant coach for the University of Cincinnati during the 2006-07 season under Mick Cronin.

"Ryan brings a passion for the game and a willingness to continue to grow our program here at Turpin," Fry said. "He is all about the kids and doing everything he can to get the most out of them. We knew he was a great fit for us the first time we talked with him. He will bring an energy to our program that is infectious within our school and the community. Coach Krohn will continue to have Turpin Basketball on the map and he will have Klinger Court rocking for a long time."

Krohn replaces Pat Stricker, who stepped down in March.

Fairfield coach Tim Austing resigned, according to Fairfield athletic director Mark Harden. Austing was 77-43 at Fairfield, including two Greater Miami Conference titles and two conference coach of the year awards. He led the Indians to the 2012 state final four. "This is something that did not take us by surprise," Harden said. "Tim has always been upfront about his timeline when he was hired five years ago. He is without a doubt one of the finest basketball coaches I've ever come in contact with at any level. What he's built here is remarkable and special."
