Franklin junior shooting guard Luke Kennard (Duke verbal commit) and Princeton senior guard Kelsey Mitchell (Ohio State signee) were named the boys’ and girls’ players of the year, respectively, by the OHSBCA. Both will be recognized on Sunday.

Edwards was named the Division I boys’ player of the year.

Patrick Cosgrove was named the Summit Country Day boys’ basketball coach. Cosgrove, a 2001 Summit graduate, replaces Michael Bradley, who announced he was stepping down Tuesday.

Cosgrove, who has been on the basketball staff since 2004, was an assistant the past eight seasons. He was also a junior varsity coach for one season and a freshman coach for one season, according to the school.

Bradley, a former NBA player who also played at the University of Kentucky, was one of eight coaches nationally chosen for the 2014 NBA Assistant Coaches Program. He spent last week at the Portsmouth Invitational tournament.

“I will have a few other things with the NBA this summer and see what happens there,” Bradley told The Enquirer in a text message. “It is an honor to be in this program, and already some doors and possibilities have opened up since last week.”

Summit Country Day was a Divisions III regional runner-up this past season. Bradley helped lead the Silver Knights to the Division III state title.

Bradley had a 93-13 record in four years at Summit. The Silver Knights won four district titles in a row and had three regional final appearances.

“I will always be a Silver Knight no matter what I end up doing down the road,” Bradley said. “The memories and the relationships with the people I have met there will last a lifetime.”

Clark Montessori coach Scott Kerr was named the Purcell Marian coach. “I think it’s a good opportunity for me to challenge myself as a coach,” Kerr said. “The GCL speaks for itself.” Kerr, who has a 124-77 career record, spent the past six seasons at Clark Montessori. Kerr, 41, had a 96-42 record at Clark and said he has several fond memories of the Miami Valley Conference program. Purcell Marian athletic director Kenny Pope said he likes Kerr’s personality and his offensive schemes and said the coach will push the Purcell players to take their talent to a different level.

Glen Este basketball player Tyler Flanigan was named Division I Academic All-Ohio. Mercy player Emily Budde was named Division I Academic All-Ohio and Fayetteville-Perry’s Makayla Rosselot was named Division IV Academic All-Ohio.

Colerain coach Kevin Higgins stepped down, according to Colerain athletic director Dan Bolden. Higgins had a 75-85 record in seven years with the Cardinals. Colerain was district champion in 2010 and 2013.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL: McAuley volleyball player Courtney Gildea signed with Kentucky Wesleyan. Teammate Courtney Criswell committed to Cincinnati State, according to the McAuley athletic department.

FOOTBALL: New Richmond wide receiver Malik Davis committed to Marietta College, according to New Richmond coach Josh Stratton. Davis is 6 feet 2 and 180 pounds.

Boston College offered Moeller junior WR Chase Pankey, according to Moeller coach John Rodenberg. It is the first reported offer for Pankey, who is 6 feet and 175 pounds. Pankey, who was second-team All-GCL South, had 30 receptions for 551 yards and nine touchdowns for the Division I state champion Crusaders.
