Cooper Clare, 4, of Edgewood cools off in front of the mister at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. In the background is his brother, Chase, 3. The high Monday was 87 degrees, but the humidity made it feel even hotter. Highs in the upper 80s and lows in the mid 60s are in the forecast through Friday.

Say goodbye to the early cool autumn breeze of last week. Say hello to near 90-degree days – and a whole lot of them.

The cool mornings and evenings that Greater Cincinnati saw most of the past week will be taking a break as high temperatures move into the area.

Sunday, high temperatures hit 86 in the late afternoon before overnight temperatures were expected to dip to 67.

Most of the week should be just about the same as Sunday, the National Weather Service forecasts.

Besides a slight chance of afternoon showers Monday, Cincinnati is in store for a warm, sunny week.

The week ahead:

Monday: Slight chance of showers after 1 p.m. Partly sunny. High of 86. Low of 68.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny. High of 89. Low of 68.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny. High of 89. Low of 68.

Thursday: Mostly sunny. High of 88. Low of 68.

Friday: Mostly sunny. High of 89. Low of 68.

Saturday: Mostly sunny. High of 89. Low of 68.
