Lakota East blanks Colerain, 20-0

Lakota East softball, No. 5 in The Enquirer Division I area coaches' poll, defeated Colerain 20-0 as sophomore pitcher Kianah Towe threw a five-inning no-hitter with eight strikeouts to improve her record to 8-1.

The Thunderhawks also had plenty of offensive production as they had three home runs accounting for seven runs. Freshman shortstop Rachel Lewis and junior left fielder Payton Callihan each had three-run homers, while senior Taylor Fair hit a solo shot.

Lakota East improved to 14-2.

Lakota East 11, Hamilton 1 (six innings): Sophomore Mackenzie Rieck went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBI, while senior Taylor Fair hit a home run and junior Payton Callihan and freshman Rachel Lewis each went 3-for-4 to lead the way for Lakota East.

Cincinnati Country Day 5, CHCA 4: Sophomore pitcher Missy Dieckman-Meyer led the Indians in the circle and at the plate. Dieckman-Meyer (5-2) struck out 13 and went 2-for-3 with two homers and four RBI.

With two outs in the first inning, Dieckman-Meyer blasted a solo homer to give CCD the lead. She helped her own cause once again in the fourth inning with a two-run home run, her fifth of the season.

CHCA threatened in the seventh, as freshman Mady Shank led off with a triple, her second of the game. However, Dieckman-Meyer went on to strike out the side to seal the win. CCD improved to 5-2.

Fairfield 4, Oak Hills 0: Senior pitcher Ashlynn Roberts struck out nine batters in her shutout win, improving to 8-3. Sophomore Sydney Wyatt went 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Indians. Senior Audrey Barrett added a triple and a RBI, as third-ranked Fairfield moved to 12-3. Oak Hills fell to 12-6.

St. Ursula 3, Mercy 2: Freshman Theresa Anhoffer knocked in the game-winning run to give the Bulldogs the comeback win.

Mercy jumped ahead 2-0 thanks to Correy Specht, who belted a two-run home run. Specht was 2-for-4. St. Ursula evened the game in the sixth, heading to the seventh 2-2. Anhoffer singled to left for what proved to be the game-winning run.

Sophomore pitcher Sammy Gilbert struck out five in the win.

Glen Este 1, Turpin 0: Junior pitcher Brooke Parker (Bowling Green State University signee) threw eight strikeouts and drove in senior catcher Bailey Miller (Ohio Dominican signee) for the game's lone run in the fourth inning.

Baseball

Oak Hills 4, Fairfield 3: Junior catcher Kurtis Heinlein hit a two-out single in the fifth inning, scoring two, for the game-winning runs.

Fairfield jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Oak Hills scored all four of their runs in the fifth. Junior Jonathan Diefel belted a one-out two RBI double to cut into the defecit. Heinlein would later single in the go-ahead runs for the Highlanders.

Fairfield senior Noah Heard hit a one-out triple in the seventh inning to begin the Indians rally. On a passed ball, Heard tried to score but was thrown at home to eliminate the comeback.

Oak Hills improved to 9-4, while Fairfield dropped to 8-5.

Lakota West 8, Middletown 0: Junior pitcher Austin Allinger pitched a complete-game one-hitter while also going 2-for-4 with two doubles.

Senior shortstop Ike Cloutier went 3-for-3, junior right fielder Dallas Hall went 3-for-4 with a double, senior first baseman Grant Schuermann went 2-for-4 with a double and senior left fielder Blaine Griffiths went 2-for-4 to round out the Firebirds offense.

Glen Este 14, Turpin 4: Glen Este senior right fielder Tyler Burdick got his 100th career varsity hit as he went 4-for-5, hit his fourth home run, had two RBI and scored four runs.

Junior third baseman A.J. Sweatland hit a home run and had two RBI, Peyton Burdick went 3-for-3 with a triple and four runs scored and junior second baseman Jake Neeley went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI to round out the Trojans offense.

Junior pitcher Zach Jones got the win to improve to 11-3.
