Abhilash Yarlagadda, a 13-year-old from Blue Ash, was cool as a cucumber during the first on-stage round of the Scripps National Spelling Bee on Wednesday in National Harbor, Maryland.

"It was not overly scary," he said, after acing the word "credible."

Abhilash advanced to the next round.

Abhilash, an eighth-grader at Sycamore Junior High School, is an artist. He was part of a team that designed a T-shift chosen as his school's spiritwear. He studies Latin, history and math.
