As if his calendar wasn't full enough, P.G. Sittenfeld added one more thing to his packed schedule: An upcoming wedding.

The Democratic Cincinnati City councilman, who is running for U.S. Senate, proposed to his girlfriend of a year and half Monday night.

And, she said yes.

Sittenfeld's bride-to-be, Sarah Coyne, 26, is finishing her third year of medical school at the University of Cincinnati. The two live together in Over-the-Rhine.

"I love Sarah, she makes me very happy," Sittenfeld said. "I want to grow a family with her."

Sittenfeld planned the moment. He had the ring, he called Coyne's parents to get their permission and even scoped out several city parks.

In the end, simplicity won out.

At about 6 p.m. Monday, the two, as they often do, stopped by Bakersfield for guacamole, and then went for a walk through Washington Park. In front of Music Hall, Sittenfeld bent down on one knee and asked for Coyne's hand in marriage.

They followed up with dinner at Bangkok Bistro in Hyde Park, where they went on their first date.

The couple met on a blind date the Saturday after the 2013 Council election. Sittenfeld had an extra ticket to the Rusty Ball and a mutual friend suggested he take Coyne.

Sittenfeld said the wedding is likely in early 2016.

"Life is always a little bit busy," Sittenfeld said. "Love won the day."
