  • The Mount WashingtonCommunity Council has updated its website. New website is more user-friendly.

MOUNT WASHINGTON – It may be the same online address, but it now boasts a brand new look.

The Mount Washington Community Council unveiled its new updated website,www.mwcc.org/, March 19. The project to redesign the website took several months.

It's more streamlined, Mount Washington Community Council board member Danielle Necessary said.

Necessary provided a look at the website during council's March 18 meeting.

"(We) tried to keep it simple, informative and user-friendly," Necessary said.

Necessary said the site was completely redesigned from scratch by former board member Phil Roberto.

She said it will directly link to the community's Facebook site so that updates are reflected on both sites.

Those logging onto the website will see Mt. Washington's new logo. Other features on the website include information on the Mount Washington Community Council, its bylaws and funding, details on various committees associated with council and news and announcements, which will likely be regularly updated.

"It will be a work in progress," Necessary said. "(It) continues to evolve."

During the March meeting, Mount Washington resident Jo Ann Kavanaugh also announced plans for a poetry reading at the Mount Washingtonbranch of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County in April.

Kavanaugh, who heads council's Cultural Arts Programming Committee said the event will be 6 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at 2049 Beechmont Ave.

Participants in the poetry reading will be Mike Henson, who was named poet laureate of Mount Washington last year, Christy Schmidt with Women Writing for (a) Change and writer Kelly Thomas.

Admission to the event is free.
