A man showed up to his grandmother's house unwelcome on Thanksgiving and led officers on a 16-mile chase from Colerain Township to West Chester Township, according to police.

Jacob Dietz, 26, of Middletown, arrived to his grandmother's house in the 11500 block of Colerain Avenue uninvited and claimed his truck had broken down and demanded money from family members, according to court documents.

Police were called after Dietz eventually received $100 and would not leave when he was asked to leave multiple times, court documents state. A responding officer was on an unrelated run next door to the home and confronted Dietz in his grandmother's front yard.

Dietz allegedly grabbed the officer during a confrontation and attempted to punch him, court documents state. He then fled into a blue F-150 truck. The officer drew his firearm and ordered Dietz out of the truck but he did not listen to the officer's commands, according to court documents.

He swerved at three other marked police cruisers during the pursuit and led officers on a chase at speeds that exceeded 85 mph in heavy traffic on eastbound Interstate 275, according to court documents.

After six failed attempts to stop Dietz, an Ohio State Trooper managed to strike the front drivers side tire of the F-150 with stop sticks on the ramp to northbound I-75.

The truck continued until the rubber on the tire came off around the mile 20 post on I-75. The 16-mile chase ended when Ohio State Troopers surrounded Dietz and forced him to pull over on the right side of the highway, court documents state.

Officers had to forcibly remove Dietz from the vehicle when he refused to exit, according to court documents.

Dietz is accused of four counts of felonious assault, assault, and failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer.

He is scheduled to appear in court  Friday.
