Cincinnati Reds relief pitcher Tim Adleman (77) delivers a pitch in the top of the fifth inning of the MLB Spring Training game between the Cincinnati Reds and the San Francisco Giants at Goodyear Ballpark in Goodyear, Ariz., on Friday, March 4, 2016. The Reds suffered their first loss of the preseason, 4-3.

PITTSBURGH — Right-hander Tim Adleman will be the third Reds starter to make his big-league debut in the first 25 games of the 2016 season.

After nine rookie starters made a total of 110 starts and the final 64 consecutive starts of the 2015 season, there was supposed to be a little more certainty in the Reds’ rotation in 2016. That hasn’t been the case.

On Sunday, Adleman, 28, will be the eighth different pitcher to start for the Reds this season - and will join Robert Stephenson and Tim Melville in making his big-league debut this season.

Tim Adleman has taken long road to Reds

Iglesias was checked out by the Reds' medical staff on Saturday and is suffering from inflammation in his right shoulder. At this point, Reds manager Bryan Price said, it is not believed he will need surgery.

“I don’t think it’s anything more serious than that, but it’s serious enough not to be pitching tomorrow,” Price said following Saturday’s 5-1 loss to the Pirates.

The Reds have not yet decided whether Iglesias will need to go on the disabled list, or if he could just be pushed back, Price said. Regardless, they will not only have to make a 25-man roster move before Sunday’s game, they will also have to make room on the 40-man roster to add Adleman, who was scheduled to pitch for the Triple-A Louisville Bats on Saturday before he was pulled to come to Pittsburgh.
