Police: Teen shot in the face in Westwood

Police responded to reports of a 15-year-old who had been shot in the face in Westwood Sunday night.

The shooting was first reported at approximately 7:40 p.m. Sunday in the 3100 block of Gobel Avenue, according to emergency communications.

Police were originally seeking a suspect in a silver Chevy Malibu, but the search was called off at 7:48 p.m. when police confirmed a male was in custody.

The teen was taken to Mercy Western Hills Hospital with a bullet wound to the cheek, but his injuries were considered non-life threatening, according to police at the hospital.

The teen was taken by private transportation, officials said.

A crime scene was set up at Bracken Woods Lane after the arrest of a man, about a quarter of a mile from the original call, reports confirmed. Police said the shooting may have occurred near the intersection of Harrison and McHenry avenues.
