One injured in Covington shooting

Covington emergency officials responded Friday to a reported shooting.

A 20-year-old male victim was shot in the hip near the intersection of West Pike Street and Holman Avenue, police said. The shooting occurred at about 6:35 p.m.

The victim was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and is expected to live, police reported.

Bullet casings at the scene were marked by police in two separate areas - one each on West Pike Street and Holman Avenue.

Covington police officers took a male suspect into custody at the scene. They declined to provide additional details.

A possible suspect in the shooting was described by officials as having dreadlocks. The shots were reportedly fired from the back seat of a gold-colored Saturn, according to emergency communications.
