COLD SPRING - Councilwoman Lisa Anne Cavanaugh was arrested Sunday on charges of assault/domestic violence, and for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Cold Spring Mayor David “Angelo” Penque said Lisa Cavanaugh called police to come to her home around noon Sunday after a dispute with her husband.

“Both were arrested for assaulting each other,” Penque said.

Cavanaugh is in her third term on council after being elected in 2012.

Officer Jacob Zink arrested Cavanaugh and her husband, John Cavanaugh, on charges of fourth-degree assault/domestic violence.

Lisa Cavanaugh was additionally charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kenton Circuit Court Judge Martin Sheehan set a bond of $25,000 for each Cavanaugh after they were arraigned Monday morning in Campbell District Court.

Lisa and John Cavanaugh are both scheduled in court next for a pretrial hearing at 9 a.m. April 15 in Campbell District Court.

Judge Sheehan ordered John Cavanaugh to reside somewhere else and for the couple to have no contact.

Police in Cold Spring referred all calls for information about Cavanaugh’s arrest to the mayor’s office.
