A Cincinnati police officer fired his gun as he chased a man early Sunday but the man was not struck, officials said.

After the shot was fired, the man “immediately complied” and he was arrested without further incident, according to a news release from Cincinnati police.

The incident began at about 1:40 a.m. when the officer – who has not been named – tried to pull over a vehicle in Mount Lookout. After a short chase, the vehicle crashed into a parked car in the 3500 block of Linwood Avenue.

The driver ran from the vehicle, and during a pursuit on foot the officer fired one shot, the news release said.

The man’s name will be released once police have positively identified him, the news release said.
