Dog dodges Covington cop's gunfire
A Perry Street pit bull charged at a Covington police officer Thursday morning prompting him to fire two shots, officials said. The dog wasn't struck, but did run back inside the home.
The Covington Police Department issued a press release about the incident that began as an investigation of an armed robbery at 11 a.m. at a home in the 800 block of Perry Street.
While an officer was walking around the side of the house, someone released the dog, the release said. As it charged the officer in "an aggressive manner" he fired his weapon.
According to police, officers were able to quickly secure the house arresting two men.
Thomas Bedford, 30, who was a suspect in the original investigation was arrested for three active warrants. Brian Frazier, 25, was also arrested for an outstanding warrant for burglary in Florida.
Kenton County Animal Control Office also cited Danisha Anderson, 29, for violation of the City of Covington Ordinance regarding vicious animals.
