The Islamic Center of Northern Kentucky in Florence is among locations nationwide named as a point for a rally in support of law enforcement and against "anti-American terrorism, both foreign and domestic."

The demonstration in Florence, part of Global Rally for Humanity, is scheduled to begin at noon Saturday in front of the mosque, at 8020 Action Blvd. Rally for Humanity-Kentucky encourages on its Facebook page to share the event and invite fellow "Patriots, Veterans, Bikers, Rednecks and Good Ol Boys!!"

The Facebook event states that the rallies across the nation are in counter-protest to a rally set for Saturday and headed by controversial Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan in Washington, D.C.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations, the largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization in the nation, on Sunday circulated a notice to Muslim community leaders to consider adding safety measures in response to "hate rallies by possibly armed anti-Muslim extremists targeting mosques nationwide" this weekend. Some rallies are scheduled for Friday.

Florence Police Capt. Tom Grau said his department will treat the rally "like any other protest." On the day of the protest police will meet with those gathering outside the mosque, where officers will tell the demonstrators what they can and can't do. Then, Florence Police will provide extra patrols.
