A turf war between gang members led to the daytime shooting at a gas station in Mount Auburn last week, police said.

Video footage shows Rayshawn Herald, 22, shooting a gun in front of a Shell gas station at the corner of Reading Road and McGregor Avenue around 2 p.m. May 13.

Herald has a history of violence and has been on police radar for a while, said District 4 Capt. Maris Herold.

Herald was incarcerated in 2011 for drug possession and trafficking in cocaine. He also had a felonious assault charge in 2011 that was dismissed.

Police said that Herald was aiming for another gunman when shots broke out at the busy intersection.

Instead, bullets hit a Metro bus and shattered a window. A bullet also went into the Shell gas station.

No bystanders were hit but it was a close call, police said.

Herald is wanted for felonious assault, discharge of a firearm near prohibited premises, having weapons under disability, and carrying concealed weapons.

Police are still searching for him.
