On Cyber Monday, one of the biggest online shopping days of the year, Time Warner customers in at least four states reported widespread internet outages. After many had reported being without service for two to three hours, officials reported the problem had been corrected.

"Time Warner Cable customers in the Midwest experienced intermittent issues with Internet and On Demand services this evening." said Mike Hogan, Time Warner Cable spokesman. "Services have been restored for all customers. We are still working to determine the root cause of the problem."

Time Warner did not release any information about how many customers were affected by the problem.

DownDetector.com showed outages throughout the Midwest affecting Green Bay, Milwaukee, Detroit, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Louisville and Lexington.

Cincinnati area customers complained about missing Cyber Monday deals, one even predicted a baby boom nine months from now.

Time Warner officials said that cable television services were unaffected during the outage.

The outage appears to have started just before 8 p.m.

The companies help desk responded directly to customers on social media including Facebook and Twitter.
