The rest of America could now be discovering a long-held belief for Cincinnatians: The PNC Festival of Lights at the Cincinnati Zoo is a top attraction.

A readers' poll conducted jointly by USA Today and 10Best.com, a USA Today travel and leisure offshoot, currently has the Cincinnati's Zoo's Festival of Lights ranked the No. 1 holiday-themed zoo lights show in the country.

Aside from knocking out heavyweight zoos with national appeal in the poll, Cincinnati Zoo beat out a crowded field of in-state rival attractions.

The Columbus Zoo "Wildlights" attraction ranked No. 4 on the list while the Toledo Zoo's "Lights Before Christmas" ranked No. 2.

Among the zoos trying to play catch-up in the realm of public opinion, at least according to this poll, are Oakland, Los Angeles, Portland and other major metro areas.
