A favorite Halloween haunt is looking for a new home.

St. Rita’s Haunted House will not return to the school's campus for what would have been its 40th year of frights.

“We are not doing the haunted house this year,” St. Rita School for the Deaf Associate Executive Director Angie Frith said in an e-mail. “After much discussion with our board and some staff, they decided that we would not do it anymore.”

Steve Haverkos, one of the organizers, sent an email saying:

"The Haunted House, formally St. Rita Haunted House produced by the Springdale Jaycee's, will celebrate its 40th anniversary this fall to benefit St. Rita School for the Deaf. We are currently looking for a new location as we are no longer able to use the house on the school property. Details on exact location will follow shortly, but we are alive and well."

St. Rita’s Haunted House has been a tradition for many and has been around longer than any other spook house in the Tristate area. Creepy rooms with scary special effects made the Civil War era farmhouse an unforgettable experience.
