PD: Man cracked Jefferson Social safe, took $10K
A Spring Grove Village man was arrested on Thursday in connection with a safe-cracking incident at Jefferson Social on Monday night.
Police said that Thomas Burton, 26, stole a $300 safe that was holding more than $10,000 in cash in the East Freedom Way bar.
Burton was arrested at his home in Spring Grove Village Thursday morning and admitted his offense to investigators later in the day, records state.
Documents show that Burton manipulated a rear door lock to break into the bar, forced entry though an office door and removed the safe. He has been charged with felony safe-cracking and breaking and entering.
If convicted of both charges, Burton could face up to two-and-a-half years in prison.
Burton is currently being held in the Hamilton County jail. He will be arraigned on Friday morning.
