Cincinnatians can finally shed their winter layers for good – spring appears to be taking hold in the region.

A cooler Monday night is scheduled to give way to high temperatures of 68, 63, 75 and 62 degrees for the rest of of the work week, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Lows of 37, 46, 51 and 38, however, will serve as nightly reminded that Greater Cincinnati is still in the transition into warm weather.

Then comes the "April showers" portion of the forecast.

A 40 percent chance of thunderstorms is forecast Thursday, but storms will be increasingly likely into the evening, according to the weather service.

The forecast nighttime low of 51 degrees Thursday is likely to cause thunderstorms, according to the weather service. The temperature is forecast to plummet about 24 degrees for a daytime high of 75.

Friday temperatures are forecast to climb above 60, but a 70 percent chance of rain will exist through late Friday, according to the weather service.
