The woman accused of setting her Corryville apartment on fire, possibly with pages from a Bible, was previously convicted of arson in 2012 in a strikingly similar case.

Candace Johnson, 32, was arrested last week and faces two counts of aggravated arson after police say she knowingly lit a fire on top of her stove, according to court documents.

On Oct. 23, the day of the fire, officials had earlier responded to her apartment in the 2500 block of Burnet Avenue and arrested Johnson's boyfriend in connection to a domestic dispute, a police affidavit stated.

Later, witnesses told police they had seen Johnson ripping pages out of a Bible and setting them on fire outside. The witness said shortly after Johnson returned to her apartment the smell of smoke began to fill the building.

No injuries were reported from the fire.

In 2012, Johnson was convicted of aggravated arson after she set a fire in her Four Towers apartment in Westwood.

Court documents state in September 2011 Johnson placed books in her oven, then locked herself inside her apartment without notifying the other renters in the building.

She was sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay Four Towers Apartments more than $3,400.

Credited with time served while the case worked its way through the court system, Johnson was released late in 2013.

Johnson is being held on a $30,000 bond at the Hamilton County Justice Center. The grand jury is expected to report on the case on Nov. 2.
