Sneak preview of new apartments at The Banks

Apartments are now available for rent at the second residential development at The Banks in Downtown Cincinnati, the mixed-use site's development team said Friday.

Although construction isn't expected to wrap up until March 2016, officials led a tour Friday of the new apartments under construction. Carter & Associates and the Dawson Co. - The Banks' master developers - and equity partner Nicol Investment Co. are leading the $67 million project.

Carter broke ground on Radius, a 292-unit upscale rental community at 44 Freedom Way, in early 2014.

"With Radius, we’ve taken a fresh approach to both visual and functional design elements in an effort to bring a unique product into the market,” said Scott Stringer, Carter executive vice president. "The signature wavy north façade draws upon elements from its close proximity to the Ohio River and offers breathtaking views for residents.”

Bell Partners is managing Radius and Current at The Banks, the first 291-unit development built on the Cincinnati riverfront site. At full occupancy, Radius would double the neighborhood's residential population.

Radius has studio, one- and two-bedroom units and is adjacent to the 338,000-square-foot General Electric Co. operations center, which is also under construction.

Studio apartments offer about 618 square feet of space and monthly rent is between $1,336 and $1,602. One-bedroom, one-bathroom units offer between 705 square feet and 837 square feet of space. Monthly rent for one-bedroom units is between $1,466 and $1,929. Two-bedroom, two-bathroom units offer between 1,098 square feet and 1,270 square feet of space. Monthly rent for two-bedroom units is between $2,243 and $3,072.

Apartments have granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and wood flooring. Other features at the property include a resort-style pool, clubroom with bar area, televisions with gaming consoles, internet café, business center, universal WiFi, and fitness center.

“Timing couldn’t be better to begin pre-leasing at Radius,” said Dan McCarthy, Carter project executive. “Cincinnati’s urban market is undergoing a renaissance and interest in living downtown is at an all-time high.”

The Radius building also includes 18,000 square feet of street-level retail space. Tenants have not been announced for the commercial space.
