A man is in critical condition after he was shot in the head in Avondale Thursday night, police said.

Officers responded to the 700 block of Ridgeway Avenue at approximately 8:30 p.m. and discovered a man in his 30s laying in the street with a serious gunshot wound, Cincinnati Police Lt. Tim Brown said.

The victim was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center and is in critical condition, Brown said.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Police have taken witnesses into custody for interviews as part of the investigation.

Ridgeway Avenue was the scene of another shooting earlier this summer.

4-year-old Martaisha Thomas was shot in the head during a drive-by at a barbecue in July. She survived the attack, and a march against violence was held in her honor on the street after the incident.

Darnell Hicks, 20, turned himself in to police within days of the shooting and was charged with attempted murder.
