LaRosa's is expanding with its first-ever central Kentucky pizzeria in suburban Lexington.

The Nicholasville restaurant is slated to open in 2016 under a franchise agreement signed with Lexington native, Terry Seaborn. Seaborn's son-in-law, Charbel Joseph, will act as district manager.

Seaborn and Joseph, both long-time Cincinnati visitors, are die-hard LaRosa's fans and hope to open additional pizzerias in Lexington in the future.

Seaborn, who spent his career in information technology, decided to get into the pizza business after deciding it was too early to retire.

"Retirement just wasn't for me. One day, Charbel and I started talking about LaRosa's, and it just clicked," Seaborn said.

LaRosa's officials say Lexington is a natural expansion opportunity.

"With our recent expansion in the Columbus and Knoxville areas, putting down roots in the Lexington area just made sense – and Terry and his team are the right people to do that," CEO Michael LaRosa said in a news release. Additional details regarding LaRosa's Nicholasville will be announced later this year.

Founded in 1954, LaRosa's has 66 pizzerias in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee. Westwood-based LaRosa's ranked 66th on the 2014 Deloitte Cincinnati USA 100 list of the region's largest privately held companies, with 2013 revenues of $140 million and 1,550 employees.
