Man pleads guilty in death of 6-month-old

A 23-year-old man pleaded guilty Tuesday in the death of an infant he was watching.

Frederick Mitchell pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter at a hearing in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court, authorities said.

As part of an agreement with prosecutors, Mitchell was sentenced to 20 years in prison, according to his attorney, Tom Koustmer. He had faced up to life in prison on murder charges.

Koustmer declined to comment about the plea.

The incident happened in March 2013 at the Sedamsville home Mitchell shared with the 6-month-old Elliot Megrditchian's mother.

Officials said Elliot was slammed against a wall and suffered skull fractures and other injuries.
