Man struck on Brent Spence Bridge dies

Wednesday update, 8:30 a.m.: Russell Hamer, 31, of Cincinnati, died Tuesday as a result of injuries he sustained after being hit by a car on Brent Spence Bridge on Sunday, according to the Hamilton County Coroner's Office.

Hamer was hit by a 2009 Infiniti G37 when he tried to cross the interstate around 9:51 p.m, police said. The car was driven by Sandeep Gaddam, 33.

It is not known why Hammer was walking on the bridge. The incident is still being investigated.

Previous report: A man was struck by a car and seriously injured when he tried to walk across southbound Interstate 75 at the Brent Spence Bridge Sunday night.

Russell Hamer, 31, was hit by a 2009 Infiniti G37 when he tried to cross the interstate around 9:51 p.m, police said. The car was driven by Sandeep Gaddam, 33.

Hamer was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with serious injuries. Gaddam and his passengers were not injured in the crash, police said.

Speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash, police said.

The Cincinnati Police Traffic Unit is investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 513-352-2514.
