Pete Rose, Doc to visit Miami for lecture series
The Pete Rose and Enquirer sports columnist Paul "Doc" Daugherty are set to talk sports ethics in a lecture at Miami University in Oxford in September.
The Hit King made headlines this summer when a notebook providing evidence that he bet on baseball as a player surfaced in June and when he was honored at the All Star Game in July.
More recently, Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred told a Washington, D.C., radio station that he will have a decision on Pete Rose's reinstatement later this year and has reached out to the all-time hits leader about a meeting.
Doc has written extensively on Rose and the controversy surrounding his 1989 banishment from Major League Baseball for gambling as a Reds manager.
The two recently went to Rose's childhood home in Riverside where Rose reminisced and spoke about growing up with baseball.
Rose and Doc will speak at "Winning is Everything: The Hit King Talks Ethics in Sport" on Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Hall Auditorium at Miami University.
Tickets will be distributed on Sept. 16 for the Miami community and Sept. 18 for the general public.
