Man killed during rash of overnight shootings ID'd

Cincinnati Police have identified the man killed in a failed robbery attempt  early Tuesday.

The College Hill shooting was the most recent during a bloody, five-hour period in Greater Cincinnati in which eight people were shot. The only fatality to result from the four shootings was Marcus Lampson, 30. The victims of the other shootings are expected to survive.

The shooting in College Hill occurred at about 1:30 a.m. at 1669 Cedar Ave., said Lt. Tim Brown, Cincinnati Police Department night chief.

A robbery attempt "went bad," Brown said, and Lampson was shot. He was pronounced dead at the location of the shooting.

No suspect information was available.

Homicide investigators remained in the area of 1669 Cedar Ave. through 5 a.m.

The five-hour period of violence began in Evanston – the first of four shootings through 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday. In Evanston, four adults and one 3-year-old were wounded in a shooting.

The Evanston violence was followed by a shooting in West End at approximately 11 p.m.. The victim told police he was injured in both legs as he was getting water from a drinking fountain.

A third shooting occurred in East Walnut Hills before Monday night ended. Officers responded to the 2300 block of Kemper Lane and discovered a man in his 30s with serious injuries in front of an apartment building, according to Cincinnati police Lt. Kimberly Williams.
