A body was found wedged in a coal barge traveling on the Ohio River around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, Campbell County police said.

Crew members on a coal barge noticed the body trapped between barges in the water, police said. The barge was stopped and police were notified.

The body was pulled from the water in the Oneonta area near unincorporated California.

Police reported the unidentified man was about 50 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighed around 180 pounds.

Investigators reported that he appeared to have been in the river "for some time."

Wearing only jeans and a black leather belt, police said he also had a long vertical surgical scar across the length of his abdomen.

The Campbell County police are requesting help in identifying the man.

This story has been edited from a previous version that stated Tipp City Police believed the body found was that of William B. York Sr.'s.
